Our Club
Worthing D&D Basketball Club is a community basketball club run by unpaid volunteers. We provide a fun and safe environment for children (boys and girls) and adults of all ages, abilities and experience to play, train and compete in the amazing sport of basketball.
We play in the Sussex County local league, and competition is open for all. This is basketball for everyone — not just the most experienced players. We are one big family: many players start in our under-9s group and stay through to under-18s, and plenty return after university to play in our senior men's teams. We even have children of former players coming through the club today.
Many of our players go on to represent national league clubs at local performance centres, often alongside their time with us. We are always looking for new members, and every child will get the opportunity to play and train with the club.
Whilst winning is something everybody hopes to achieve, emphasis is placed on participation and individual development. Youngsters can also widen their involvement through coaching, refereeing and table-official courses — building skills for life on and off the court.
Our History
The club was started in 1989 when the senior team recognised that youngsters in the Worthing area were missing out on the chance to learn the game. Over the decades the club has grown both on and off the court.
Teams are entered into the Sussex League at each age group. As the club has expanded, so has its community — from first-time mini ballers to returning adults, from league weekends to volunteer coaches and officials supporting the next generation.
Today, D&D remains rooted in the same belief that started it all: give everyone a pathway into basketball, nurture them as people and players, and celebrate the community that forms around the sport we love.
